2005 New York Choral Festival

April 9-13, 2005 (Subject to change)

 

DAY ONE: Saturday, April 9th, 2005 – SAN FRANCISCO to NEW YORK CITY

7:00am   Depart SFO via America West #749 for Phoenix Airport-

                        Depart PHX via America West #12 for JFK in New York

5:18pm    Arrive into JFK New York City

                        Collect your luggage, your coach driver will meet you in the luggage area. Load the coach and depart for the Park Central Hotel in mid-town Manhattan to check in. A World Projects staff member will assist you with check in.

7:00pm   Directors and lead chaperones attend the Festival Orientation meeting.

Evening   Dinner on own and the rest of this evening is free to enjoy on your own.

 

DAY TWO: Sunday, April 10th, 2005 – NEW YORK CITY

Morning   Breakfast on own – there are numerous delis, diners and bagel shops within easy walking distance of the hotel.

8:45   Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central, a World Projects staff member will direct you to your coaches.

9:00   Enjoy a Harlem Gospel Tour.  This excursion will consist of a guided coach tour through Historic Harlem followed by attendance at one of Harlem’s fantastic gospel churches (to hear gospel music as it was intended).

1:00   Return to the hotel area for lunch on own.

1:20   Assemble outside the Manhattan Skyline Room #2  

1:30 – 2:15   Rehearsal in Manhattan Skyline #2

                        Upon completion, immediately assemble in the lobby of the Park Central and depart for a short walk to the theater.

3:00    Wicked on Broadway

6:15   Assemble in lobby of Park Central for a short walk to Planet Hollywood

6:30   Dinner at Planet Hollywood

8:05   Select Choir assemble outside of Manhattan Skyline room #1

8:15 – 9:15   Festival Select rehearsal – Manhattan Skyline room #1

 

DAY THREE: Monday, April 11th, 2005 – NEW YORK CITY

Morning   Breakfast on own.

8:45   Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central Hotel where a World Projects staff member will direct you to your coach.

9:00   Transfer from the hotel to Alice Tully Hall – part of the Lincoln Center for the Arts - for your sound check.

9:30   You will be directed to a back stage area to warm up and await final instructions before taking the stage for your sound check.

10:00 – 10:15   Group sound check on stage in Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

                        Photos will be taken during the last few minutes of your sound check

                        Please depart the stage area promptly following your picture.

11:20   Select Choir assemble back stage.

11:25 – 12:30   Select Choir Rehearsal and sound check

                        After your sound check, there will be some free time for lunch on own in the area.

2:00   Adjudication Concert begins

2:50   Following Wando High Schools performance, a member of the World Projects staff will escort your group backstage to prepare for your performance.

2:55 – 3:15   Preparation in the backstage warm up room.

3:20 – 3:40   Performance as part of this Afternoons Festival Adjudication Concert at Alice Tully Hall.

5:00   Meet your coach in front of Lincoln Center

5:15   Return to the hotel to change and for some free time.

                        Dinner on own.  

6:30    Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central where a World Projects staff member will direct you to your coach.

6:45   Transfer back to Lincoln Center for this evening’s concert.

7:30   Opening remarks

7:35 – 7:55   Mason City High School

8:00 – 8:20   Duffy Liturgical Choir

8:20 – 8:30   Intermission

8:30 – 9:00   Diablo Valley College

9:05 – 9:35   Montclair University

9:40 – 9:55   Awards Ceremony

10:00 – 10:15   Select Choir

10:30   Meet your coach and transfer back to the Park Central Hotel.

 

DAY FOUR: Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 – NEW YORK CITY (D)

Morning            Breakfast on own.

10:00            Assemble outside the Manhattan Skyline room #1

10:10  - 11:10   This morning, enjoy a group workshop with Andre Thomas and Geoffrey Boers at the Park Central Hotel, Manhattan Skyline #1

                        Upon completion please exit promptly as the next group will be waiting to enter for their workshops.

 Afternoon   Lunch on own

1:15   Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central Hotel

1:30            Short walk to St. Paul the Apostle Church.

2:00 – 4:00   Festival Performance Exchange Concert at St. Paul the Apostle Church .  This will be your opportunity to perform for each other in a magnificent church setting along with other participating choirs. Each group will be called forward by a World Projects staff member based on the approximate schedule below.

2:00   Booker T Washington

2:15   Homestead

2:30   Brookfield

2:45   Liberty

3:00   Liberty Chamber Singers

3:15   Wando

3:30   Moline

3:45   Lakota

4:00   Short walk back to the Park Central Hotel

 

Evening

6:00   Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central Hotel where a World Projects staff member will direct you to your coach

6:15   Depart for Dinner Cruise

6:45   Board the Spirit of New York

7:30   This evening, enjoy the Festival Farewell Dinner Dance as we cruise the Hudson River.

10:30  Return to the pier, load your coach

10:45  Return to the Park Central Hotel

 

DAY FIVE: Wednesday, April 13th, 2005 – NEW YORK CITY

Morning   Breakfast on own. Check out of the hotel and store your luggage at the hotel during free time on your own.

1:30   Assemble in the lobby of the Park Central Hotel. Collect your luggage and all belongings and load your coach.

2:00pm   Depart for JFK airport

                        Upon arrival at the airport, check into your flight, move through security and onto your departure gate (now may be a good time to have some lunch on own).

6:15pm   Depart JFK in New York City via America West Flight #17 to Phoenix

                        Depart PHX 9:46pm for SFO via America West  #813

11:40pm   Arrive at SFO

1:00am(Thursday)   Back to Brentwood
